Happy 7th Birthday to Cubbie!

It’s Cubbie’s 7th birthday!

He was born June 28, 2006 in Osceola. I got him from a farmer while I was working at my first, full-time television news job at KTVO’s Ottumwa bureau.

I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. I still remember meeting him and bringing him home with me when he was just seven weeks old. He was so small, weighing less than two pounds! Now my big boy is more than 20 pounds, but he’s still my four-legged baby.

I’m so thankful for the memories we’ve shared through the years. Since having Teddy  (who turns one Sunday) around, I’ve noticed Cubbie isn’t the young, energetic pup he once was.

We all have turning points in our lives and life-changing moments. My life changed for the better when I got Cubbie. He’s truly inspired me to be a better person. I’ve wanted nothing more than to provide him with a great life. My desire to provide for him gave me the movtivation to help as many dogs as possible find loving, forever homes.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t be the person I am today without Cubbie. He is the reason for Cubbie Tails, he is the reason we fundraise for numerous local animal organizations and he is soon to be the main character in a series of children’s books. That’s right. The first Cubbie Tails book for young children (early readers) is in production right now with Tate Publishing and should be available by the end of this year. Each month, a portion of the sales from the book will go to a different animal organization in eastern Iowa. If the first book does well, it will turn in to a series of books.
